It's a place to visit that don't cost money. The road is rough because it is on old volcano bedrock. The neat part is the blow hole, seeing what is left of 300 year old homes made of volcanic rock, then at the end of the trail you can watch surfers.

Wear bug spray as the mosquitoes are mutant sized and hungry. Good hiking sandals are beat as there are muddy areas as well as a few small stream crossings that boots or shoes are not ideal for. Do t try this in slippas or flip flops.

Beautiful walk through the Forrest at the top edge of a ravine for the first half mile that is the hardest part and most vertical rise of the whole trail. There are other parts that go up but not as consistently as the biggining. Once you pass the banyon tree there is one or two more sets of stairs then the rest is boardwalks and short stairs til you get to the falls. The falls themselves are spectacular, even our 7 year old couldn't stop looking at them.

Nice hiking trails, not strenuous except keeping balance on some of the lava rock. Go slow driving to and from the trailhead, lots of blind spots, narrow and bumpy, potholes in the road, at least the last leg. Go early and take water, it gets very hot. There are 2 parking lots and portable toilets. Watch for the wild black goats!

Scenic, a bit rough for hiking across the lava. I enjoyed the Cape. Not a swimming place but peaceful. Tons of feral goats.

Beautiful Shoreline Trail through the lava fields. It is kind of a rough trail and we'd hope to run it the most of it is more of a hiking trail. We saw several groups of goates. there are a couple of beaches along the way. Lots of beautiful sights. You can sea the Big Island from the shoreline. We went Before Sunrise and there was nobody else there but by nine the parking lot was full. Great for a quiet hike.
