Quiet and beautiful. Just walk about 1.5 miles in and you get dramatic views
Drops down 1k feet on the way to the crater. Look for nene at Holua cabin. Continue up to see red cinders and silverswords. A bit further 5.5 mi in for black sand!

You are hiking above the clouds with some amazing views of the crater, do this hike!
Lived here on Maui for 40 years and finally got around to hiking down into the crater to Holua cabin. Strenuous but well worth the effort. Peaceful & beautiful views.
