This place is amazing, their trails and horses were fantastic- you can tell they care for their animals and it's not all business. We had Lucy at their burger spot Bully's Burgers and can't say enough!
Our guide started us off right, talking shop about Maui politics and history, as we toured the most gorgeous countryside and wound down the lower slopes of the southern portion of Haleakala. After about 2 hours, we crossed the ancient King's Highway and ended up at a beautiful white-stone beach encircled by lava rocks for lunch. The ranch owner's daughter grilled us the most incredible burger I have ever eaten, fresh from their own cattle (apparently this is the meat they serve at Bully's Burgers as well). Seriously, the best burger I've ever eaten (as I'm a foodie from Seattle, this is saying something!).
The family that runs the establishment was gracious, courteous and attentive. They made sure we felt like we were part of the family. My husband and I look forward to bringing the kids out and inviting some friends to tag along with their families too. Will definitely be returning. Maui definitely has some gems. Be sure to check them out when visiting.
As we headed back up the slope after lunch, we were greeted by the cattle herd who were lazily grazing on the slopes, and our guide told us about the annual roundup (and associated cowboy shenanigans). All in all, the perfect way to spend a day with horses on Maui.
My boyfriend, his mom, and I had a wonderful time! Our guide was Waylon he is an expert with the horses. We had wonderful, and tasty burgers for lunch right on the beach and collected shells. After lunch we had to take a more direct route back to the house due to thunder and lightening that had rolled in. The horses got very spoked, but we made it back safe and sound. Right before a big clap of thunder occurred not to far from the corral sending all 4 horses racing out to take cover I assume. It was quite an experience I will always remember! Beautiful ranch, unique, wild, untamed landscape, wonderful horses, warm and friendly guides. This is a unique, intimate experience, just your party, the horses, and the guide! We will definitely be back!
As an avid horseback rider and lover of cowboy culture, the first thing I wanted to do on my vacation in Hawai'i was visit a ranch that truly embodied Maui's paniolo culture. After some web research and talking the owner, it was clear that Triple L was definitely the place to experience cowboy culture on Maui.
Great burgers barbecued to order. Many fantastic varieties to choose from. Sorry to say no restrooms. The view is amazing.
