We came here every year on vacation. It USED to be one of my favorite places, however, we arrived at 10:30am for breakfast this time and their hostess stated that they already stopped serving breakfast. I informed her that we checked their website to ensure we would make it in time. (Website states they serve breakfast to 10:45am). Hostess says that they have changed the times about 7 months ago, and she says they have been trying to get someone to change the website info. Ummm...it takes all of a phone call to your web developer to ask them to update it. NOT HAPPY as today is our last day of vacation and I was looking forward to their French Toast. Too bad, Kula lodge will not be on our list next year. Sorry for your luck. We tried to support local businesses.
We had our Christmas dinner there because everywhere was booked. We have gone before and they've never been consistent. But we went again..it's close by with a great view and so much potential. I'm not sure if it's bad management or what it is. They always run out of food.! No fresh fish no prime rib. Presentation of our meal was a joke. It's like the cook just threw everything on the plate didn't even make any effort to make it presentable. I had some weird sauce all over my chicken. My chicken was cut up in funky pieces. Two chicken dishes and one had mashed potatoes and one had baby whole potatoes. We had baby back ribs and they were super cold like it was right out of the fridgerator. We ordered 2 of the shrimp scampi plates both were totally different. One had tomato sauce and one had like a garlic sauce on it. It was just horrible. I was more disappointed last night than I have been in the past. And we've had many disappointed meals there. I don't think we're going to go back there any more.. we've gave them so many chances. The cooks last night were the worse yet. We wasted $600 on Crappy food. I felt sorry for our waitress.
Such a cool spot. This restaurant is on the slope of the volcano and has awesome views. The whole backside of the restaurant is windows so you get an amazing panorama of the base of the volcano. My wife and I went hear for brunch and the food was good too. I would recommend it, especially to those biking down Haleakala!
Delicious pancakes. Beautiful view. Great place to stop and eat after watching the sunrise on the summit. A must
This place was very disappointing, I will advise you to not go. We came into this restaurant because it seemed to be very popular. At first, it seemed pretty cool. The scenery was beautiful and there was a cozy fireplace. Not that this bothered me too much but the bathrooms were pretty terrible as the lights flickered a lot. Pretty creepy. But that is beside the point. What made me and my family worried was that the price for the buffet was nowhere to be found. It was not on the website, not anywhere at the restaurant, and the employees did not tell us either. We actually saw another family in a really bad mood after receiving the check and leaving but we didn’t think of it as anything. As soon as we saw the food we thought this place might be alright. However, after a few bites, it tasted like a cheap free hotel breakfast. We thought, this should not be expensive. Well, we got the check and the final price was about $200. Just for a breakfast that did not even taste good. We were debating whether or not we should pay a good tip. It honestly ruined our mood as we drove to Haleakala Crater. Do not go here, it is crazy expensive and disgusting. The only food that I slightly liked were the ones that they did not cook such as grapes. But the other fruit were a terrible texture such as the honeydew. Just go to the Lavender Cafe.
